  • A Master’s degree in Physical Education with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever applicable) from a recognized university or institute.
  • Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) in Physical Education, conducted by UGC, CSIR, or an equivalent test accredited by UGC, such as SLET/SET.

    OR

    Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. in Physical Education, following the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations of 2009, 2016, or any subsequent amendments, are exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.

    Additionally, candidates who enrolled in a Ph.D. program before July 11, 2009, are also exempt from NET/SLET/SET for Assistant Professor positions in universities, colleges, or institutions, provided they meet the following criteria:

    • The Ph.D. degree was awarded in regular mode.
    • The thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners.
    • An open Ph.D. viva voce was conducted.
    • The candidate has published at least two research papers based on their Ph.D. work, with at least one appearing in a refereed journal.
    • The candidate has presented at least two research papers related to their Ph.D. work at conferences/seminars sponsored or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or a similar agency.

    These conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the respective university.

    OR

  • A Ph.D. degree in Physical Education from a recognized foreign university or institution.

How to apply for UPSC Assistant professor  recruitment 2025

  • Candidates must apply only through the official website: https://upsconline.gov.in/ora/. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted and will be rejected.
  • The uploaded photograph must not be older than 10 days from the date of the online application process commencement.
  • The candidate’s name and the date on which the photo was taken must be clearly visible on the photograph.
  • The face should occupy at least 75% of the frame.
  • The photo must be clear, in color, with a plain white or off-white background, and should not have any distracting shadows. The facial expression should be natural.
  • Candidates must ensure their appearance in the recruitment test and interview matches their uploaded photograph (e.g., beard, spectacles, mustache, etc.).
  • Each document should be uploaded separately in PDF format.
  • The file size should not exceed:
    • 1 MB for specific modules (e.g., date of birth, experience, and qualifications).
    • 2 MB for the “UPLOAD OTHER DOCUMENT” section.
  • Documents should be scanned at 200 dpi in grayscale for clarity.
  • The following documents should NOT be uploaded: Pay Slips, Resumes, Appointment Letters, Relieving Letters, and Unsigned Experience Certificates.

Required Documents:

  • Proof of Date of Birth – A matriculation (10th standard) certificate or mark sheet from a recognized board. If unavailable, a school leaving certificate (for Tamil Nadu & Kerala candidates) will be accepted.
  • Educational Qualifications – Degree/Diploma certificates. If unavailable, a provisional certificate along with mark sheets for all academic years must be uploaded.
  • Equivalency Certificate (if applicable) – If a candidate claims an equivalent qualification, they must submit an official letter/order stating the authority and details of equivalency.
  • Experience Certificate – Candidates must submit an official certificate from the employer clearly mentioning:
  • Duration of employment (start and end date).
  • Basic and consolidated pay details.
  • Nature of duties performed.
  • The certificate should be in the prescribed format, but if not, it may still be considered based on merit.
  • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) – Must be issued in the prescribed format by the competent authority, clearly stating:
  • The candidate’s caste.
  • The Act/Order under which the caste is recognized.
  • The village/town of residence.
  • OBC Non-Creamy Layer Declaration – Candidates claiming OBC reservation must submit a self-declaration stating that they do not belong to the creamy layer as of the crucial date of the application.
  • Disability Certificate (for PwBD candidates) – Must be issued by a duly constituted Medical Board (Central or State Government), consisting of at least three members, including a specialist in the relevant field of disability.
  • Any Other Supporting Documents – Candidates should upload any additional documents required for claims made in the application.
  • Following these instructions carefully will ensure a smooth application process and avoid rejection due to incomplete or incorrect submissions.
